In recent years, the town of Stellenbosch has become an increasingly attractive area to criminals, with crime rates showing a dramatic increase in the area. This student town is characterised by a high student population, often from locations far afield, with students generally commuting on foot, either during daytime or at night. The personal protection service we offer works as follows:

Subscribers to our personal protection service can either purchase a mobile device similar to a panic button, or they will be connected to Secma via our mobile app.
When a student (or any other commuting person) is approached or harassed by an unknown, hostile individual, he or she will be able to push the panic device or activate a panic trigger via the mobile app.
Once the panic device is pressed, or panic trigger on the mobile app is activated, a distress signal will be sent to Secma’s control room.
As soon as the control room receives the distress signal, two response vehicles will be dispatched immediately.
All of our subscriber’s panic devices and mobile phones can be tracked by our control room using GPS technology, once the panic button is triggered. In so doing, we can determine the location of the device (and therefore the subscriber) in response to a distress signal.

The area encompassing the Stellenbosch central business district has been demarcated for coverage by our personal protection technologies, and we are therefore able to provide effective personal protection services within this entire area.
